Sometimes sticking your clothes in the machine and hoping for the best is not the optimal way to get rid of bad stains. Stains from coffee, chocolate, grass and chewing gum for example will resist the efforts of the washing machine and will instead remain on your favourite item of clothing.

That being said, there is a way to get rid of some of the most stubborn stains. Here are 3 stubborn stains and how to remove them:

#1 Grass

If you have kids, you are at some point going to have to deal with grass stains. However tenacious the stains may be, there is still a way to get rid of them. Firstly, you need to apply a stain solution or washing detergent directly to the stain itself. Next you will need to rub the fabric together over and over to release the molecules of dirt.

Throw the item of clothing into the washing machine and when it’s ready, take it out. Next, you will want to apply some white wine vinegar to the stain, let it sit and then throw it in the machine again. You will be amazed by the results!

#2 Blood

Getting rid of blood is relatively straight forward. Depending on the size of the stain, if it is a small dot your best bet is to stick it in a bowl of cold water. Then, you will need to gentle rub the blood spot with your fingers until the water in the bowl turns pink. You may need to empty the bowl and top it up with clean water when this happens.

Next, apply some stain detergent directly to the blood spot, stick it in the machine and wait until it’s ready. When it’s done, you may have to repeat the process until you achieve the desired effects.

#3 Ketchup

Ketchup is one of the stains that can remain on clothing for a long time, even after hot cycles in the washing machine. The best way to get rid of ketchup stains is by rinsing the stain under cold water, then leaving it to soak in warm water. You will then need to apply some washing up liquid to a sponge and then dab the spot until the stain lessens.

There are many different types of stains and hundreds of ways to get rid of them, but we hope you enjoyed our top 3 in this article.
